Peridot, The Gemstone of Cleopatra.

Peridot was very popular in Native American jewelry; about 85% of all peridot is mined in  Arizona. It is worth to note that Peridot was loved and valued by Egyptians. There is a myth that it was also the favorite stone of Cleopatra. I decided to find out how true this is. After doing some research I found that Emeralds were also loved by Cleopatra so both are her favorite gems. This could be true because darker Peridots can be easily confused with emeralds. It could be that during the time of Cleopatra they did not know the difference between the two, but I will look closer into this
.
